Sea lice attacked an Australian teen in Melbourne.
An Australian teen was attacked on foot at Australian
beaches by creatures suspected of being Sea lice. Sam Kanizay, 16, of
Melbourne, came to the beach on Saturday to soak his legs after a soccer game .
His father quickly took him to a nearby hospital and
reported that there were hundreds of small bites in size on the boy's legs and
ankles.
Michael Keough is a marine biologist of the University of
Melbourne, who said that if it is sea lice, then it is a pretty dramatic
example of it.
In addition, marine experts suggest that parasitic sea lice
may be to blame.
More info about Sea lice:
The sea louse (plural sea lice) is a family of copepods
within the order Siphonostomatoida, the Caligidae. Sea lice are marine
ectoparasites (external parasites) that feed on the mucus, epidermal tissue,
and blood of host marine fish.
