It designed to attain the highest safety ratings in every category, Model 3 achieves 220 miles of range while starting at only $35,000 before incentives.

Touted as the affordable electric sports sedan, the Model 3 is Tesla’s eco-friendly gift to the motoring masses. Base rear-wheel-drive cars should travel about 215 miles on a single charge; all-wheel drive will be offered, and larger batteries offering longer ranges are expected.

The Tesla Model 3 is the first vehicle built on Tesla’s third-generation platform. It aims to reduce the entry price for electric vehicles while not making any compromise on range and performance.

The automaker confirmed two different version of the cars that will be first made available. During a press briefing ahead of the launch event, the versions were referred to as “Standard Battery” and “Long Range Battery”.
